The Cordillera Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) will join the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Cordillera Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in their future project monitoring and inspection to ensure the proper implementation of the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP).
This was agreed upon during the RPMC’s meeting presided by Committee Chair and National Economic and Development Authority-Cordillera Director Susan Sumbeling.
Engr. Lorielane Ferrer of the DILG-Cordillera reported for 2021, the region received P160 million to fund 25 projects across the eight communist terrorist groups-cleared barangays from Abra (six), Kalinga (one), and Mountain Province (one).
As of Jan. 25, three projects have been completed and 12 projects are ongoing.
During the project monitoring led by DILG-Cordillera from November 2021 to January, it was found most of the ongoing projects are problematic.
The RPMC, created by virtue of Executive Order 376, is composed of seven government agencies and three civil society organizations/non-government organizations.
It is the project monitoring arm of the Regional Development Council and is responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of priority programs and projects implemented in the region, particularly those that are encountering bottlenecks and those that are worthy of replication.
It submits monitoring reports and recommendations generated during problem-solving sessions to the RDC for information and appropriate action.
As the technical secretariat of RPMC, NEDA-Cordillera enrolled 25 SBDP projects under the Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System to facilitate their monitoring and evaluation. – Press release
