BONTOC, Mountain Province – Employees of the local government unit who are members of the Bontoc Emergency Response Team (BERT), youth leaders, and personnel from Bontoc Municipal Fire Station underwent a land navigation training from April 19 to 21. 
The Municipal Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) initiated the training due to the number of cases that the MDRRMO has been responding to such as reports on missing persons.
MDRRMO head Johanna Padaen said to be able to immediately respond to emergencies, search and rescue operations require finding the location of an incident. 
The training aims to capacitate the participants with the knowledge and skills in map reading and land navigation in any given situation and actual operations. 
Trainers are from the Tactical Operations Group 1, Philippine Air Force led by Technical Sergeant P. Belino, non-Commissioned Officer-in-Charge for Civil Tactical Operations Wing of Northern Luzon, Philippine Air Force, and A2C (applying to college) Joseph Russel Garcia. 
The training involved interactive lectures, tabletop exercises, and simulation exercises.  – Alpine K. Malwagay
