Payout for the second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of the national government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) is ongoing.
CSWDO Head Betty Fangasan said 33,658 beneficiaries will receive payouts from PayMaya. The recipients will be notified about the payment mode through a text message.
She said social welfare personnel are currently confirming the details of the 8,920 city beneficiaries before the P5,500 aid will be handed them.
Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries will receive the same amount for the second tranche. Payouts are done in key venues where physical distancing could be observed.
There are 5,830 applicants who were denied of the SAP payment as they already received financial aids from the Department of Labor and Employment, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, Social Services System, and other agencies.
Fangasan said the city has surpassed its target of 45,000 beneficiaries under the SAP.
The SAP is a cash emergency subsidy project for families who were financially hit by the Covid-19 pandemic that caused closures of several businesses and left thousands jobless.
Aside from facilitating the SAP payments, Fangasan said the CSWDO has also provided food packs to families of Covid-19 patients who were placed on home quarantine. Individuals in dire need were also provided with food assistance.
The CSWDO also assisted people with visual impairment through a rug-making project. – Julie G. Fianza
