A clothing brand together with SM Foundation recently turned over new handwashing facilities at Joaquin Smith National High School in Baguio City.
The initiative is part of Uniqlo Philippines’ Balik Eskwela program, which intends to provide 10 schools around the country with access to handwashing facilities and help refurbish other school facilities.
In her welcome remarks during the turnover of the facilities, Rona Vida B. Correa, SM City mall manager said, “We are grateful for the trust and confidence to be part of this partnership in building the handwashing facility that aids in assuring a safety among students and faculty.”
The facility will benefit more than 1,000 students and will provide small infrastructure support, which is necessary for sustained behavior modification and developing positive habits of children on personal hygiene and sanitation.
The ceremony concluded with the awarding of the winner in the mural painting contest.
Zyra Dacuyan, a grade 11 student, won first place out of all the students who competed.
Uniqlo Philippines has been collaborating with SM Foundation since 2012 and Uniqlo-Balik Eskwela Project is part of the celebration of its 10th year anniversary in the Philippines. – Press release
