Saint Louis University, the biggest university in northern Luzon, continues to cement its repute as a world-class higher education institution after it was recently included as one of the best universities in Asia by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.
SLU is one of the 16 HEIs in the Philippines included in the QS with University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, and De La Salle University leading the best HEIs in the country.
Out of the 1,500 assessed universities, SLU ranked 103 in South-Eastern Asia and 651-700 in Asia.
Universities are ranked based on these indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, international research network, publication of researches, staff with a Ph.D., proportion of international faculty and proportion of international students, and proportion of inbound exchange students and proportion of outbound exchange students.
QS is one of the most prestigious international rankings that assess the popularity and performance of institutions worldwide. Information published by QS will aid students in determining which university best suits their aspirations.
The Commission on Higher Education has congratulated the HEIs for their contributions to improving higher education.
As Philippine colleges and universities advance in global rankings, the CHED has committed it will prioritize internationalization of the education sector as part of nation-building. – Rimaliza A. Opiña
