ASIPULO, Ifugao – Soldiers assigned in the province have started turning idle lands productive, environment friendly, and a source of vegetables for the troopers.
Members of the Alpha (ADAMANT) Company of the 54th Infantry Battalion initiated the #BawatKawalMayBinubungkalproject in its company command posts and patrol bases in Asipulo and Tinoc; and in Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya.
This in consonance with the initiatives and efforts of the 5th Infantry Division headquarters under the Green Star project that aims to use idle lands inside and outside the camp and develop it to gardens planted with different varieties of vegetables and fruit-bearing trees.
The project will contribute not only in the preservation of the environment but also in sustaining the food requirements of the troops in the different military camps, especially during these trying times due to the Covid-19 health crisis.
Meanwhile, the Alpha Company under 1Lt.. Niccolo Bayona continuously joins community activities in partnership with local government units and other stakeholders.
The company and municipal government personnel recently conducted a mental, health awareness symposium to the youth from the six barangays of the municipality to heighten their awareness and understanding of mental health and disorders and to entice them to protect and improve their mental health and psychological wellbeing to adapt to the new normal way of living. – Marcelo B.
