TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Students in the province find a ready source of research materials during the Covid-19 pandemic through the Science and Technology Academic and Research- based Openly Operated Kiosk Station (Starbooks) online of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
DOST-Kalinga Head Jasmin Donaal said the move to open an online access to its Starbooks is aligned with Covid-19 health protocols where students are kept from getting exposed outside their homes.
The Starbooks digital library could be accessed through the STARBOOKS.ph website or the downloaded Starbooks app so students need not go to Starbooks kiosks in the schools.
The program is a great help to the research needs of students, teachers, and the public this school year 2020-2021 when there is no face-face class, Donaal said.
The online Starbooks contains updated software on livelihood videos, disaster mitigation, educational videos, library materials, DOST documentaries, interactive science-math course, DOST technology, publications, encyclopedia, Philippine women and men, and K to 12 materials.
Since the start of the program in 2015, at least 29 schools in the province received the digitized library materials.
