The lone suspect in the random stabbing of six individuals in different areas in Baguio City is facing criminal charges for frustrated homicide.
The Baguio City Police Office reported that suspect John Eric Berido, 22, from Sorsogon, randomly stabbed six individuals from Sunshine Park down to a hotel along Kisad Road on the night of June 6.
The victims were identified as Mark David Waguis, 22; Lyka Futaquio, 24; Joseph Mallari Dizon, 28; Paul Baldoza, 28; Gemma Malnawan, 50; and Dona Balisalisa, 31.
Based on initial report, Waguis and Futaquio were seated at a waiting shed at Sunshine Park when the suspect suddenly attacked and stabbed them.
The suspect then ran towards Gov. Pack Road where he stabbed Dizon, who was walking along the road. The suspect continued running and attacked Baldoza whom he also met at the same road.
When the suspect reached Kisad Road, he also stabbed Malnawan and Balisalisa who were standing in front of a hotel.
The suspect ran towards the second floor of the hotel where he attacked the staff and destroyed some kitchen wares, tables, and the glass door.
The security guard tried to pacify the suspect to no avail while the police were contacted.
The BCPO-Legarda Police Station, Mobile Patrol Unit, City Mobile Force Company, and Special Weapons and Tactics personnel responded to the area which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
The suspect and his victims were brought to the nearest hospital for treatment and all were eventually declared stable by attending physicians.
Berido is currently under custody of the BCPO and criminal charges were filed against him.
