A male visitor was arrested for trying to sneak in a sachet of shabu inside a pair of slippers at the Tabuk City District Jail on Sept. 28.
The Tabuk City Police Station reported that suspect Josua Bayado of Barangay Nambaran, brought in a pair of slippers to be given to Gian Vincent De La Cruz, one of the inmates.
Personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology of the district jail reported they discovered one heat sealed plastic sachet of shabu weighing 0.8 grams with an estimated street market value of P5,440 inside one of the slippers.
Meanwhile, three other individuals were arrested in separate sting operations in the Cordillera on the same day.
Joint operatives of Kalinga Police Provincial Office and Regional Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Unit arrested the suspect Rolando Yag-ao in Tabuk City for selling eight bricks and dried marijuana leaves weighing 15 kilograms to a poseur buyer. The confiscated marijuana was valued at P1.8 million.
The pieces of evidence inventoried on-site were brought to the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of Kalinga PPO for documentation and proper disposition.
In La Trinidad, Benguet, police arrested Allan Cariño, 33, of Barangay Tawang after selling to an operative a heat-sealed transparent plastic containing shabu weighing 0.15 grams valued at P1,020.
In Baguio City, suspect Danilo Suguitan, 52, of Barangay Pinsao Proper was arrested for selling shabu weighing 0.3 grams valued at P2,040. All arrested suspects will face charges for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. – Ofelia C. Empian
