The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Benguet and its partners have illuminated 15 households through Project Silaw or “Solar installation among Locals to advance their welfare) in Sitio Mocgaw, Badeo, Kibungan, Benguet on Oct. 8.

Sitio Mocgaw is one of the barangays in Benguet considered the most isolated and depressed areas. It can be reached via Santol, La Union by foot in three hours and six hours via Kibungan, Benguet.

The household members underwent an eight-day skills training that enabled them to acquire the competencies on solar installation that will provide them a source of electricity in their houses.

Tesda-Benguet earlier illuminated 45 households in Sitio Anjafat, Ambongdolan, Tublay; Sitio Toplac, Pudong, Kapangan; and Sitio Ibarangat-Lusod, Kabayan.

“The implementation of the Project Silaw is under the Poverty Reduction Livelihood Employment Cluster in the Geographically Isolated and Depressed Areas, with Tesda as the chair and depicting its call ‘Tesda Abot Lahat’ by extending its services in secluded areas,” said Tesda Provincial Director Vilma C. Cabrera.

“It is a timely blessing for us because we have received one of our basic needs for electricity as our children started their schooling, allowing them to charge their gadgets needed in their studies,” the beneficiaries said. – Press release
