The municipal council of Tuba, Benguet passed an ordinance giving financial aid to fontliners working in the fight against the Covid-19.

The aid is apart from the P200,000 earlier allotted from the five percent Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund trust fund of the municipality.

The ordinance covers all frontliners who tested positive for Covid-19 including those who caught the infection before the ordinance took effect.

Frontliners refer to rural health unit personnel including nationally-paid health services personnel, Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office personnel, Barangay Health Emergency Response Team members, personnel of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection and other municipal officials and employees who are required to physically report during a pandemic.

The municipality will provide P10,000 to frontliners for their hospitalization fee and P20,000 for their beneficiaries in case of death.

Frontliners must submit documentary requirements when hospitalized or when quarantined in an isolation facility including medical certificate, photocopy of identification card or any document proving their identity.

In case of death, the following must be submitted: death certificate, photocopy of identification card or any document proving identity of the beneficiary, affidavit of claimant if sole beneficiary, and special power of attorney for more than two beneficiaries.

The ordinance is under review by the provincial board of Benguet.
