The University of the Philippines Baguio is calling for donations in line with its efforts to pool resources and gene-rate funds to provide assistance in the remote learning needs of financially challenged students of the university.
Following the “Kaagapay sa Pag-aaral ng mga Iskolar ng Bayan Fundraising and Resource Generation Campaign” or Kaagapay UP initiated by the UP System administration, UPB organized “Kaagapay UP Baguio” with the same objective to help support the remote learning needs of needy and deserving students, specifically those enrolled in UPB.
In a recent survey of the UP System, around 5,600 students cannot afford remote learning. These students who cannot afford the technology and tools that have now become integral to learning are in danger of not being able to continue their education.
The survey further indicated that around 1,600 of them have no resources at all.  Additionally, for at least 4,000 more, sustained use of technologies is no longer feasible because the pandemic has rendered their households financially vulnerable.
The UP System thus launched the Kaagapay UP campaign requesting for support from all sectors to enable these Iskolar ng Bayan to move forward and ultimately reach their goal of graduating. As the program’s name introduces, the UP community is asking everyone to be their kaagapay.
Donations in cash and in kind, one-time or regular, are welcome. Technological equipment such as pre-owned or brand new laptops and computers, with the minimum specifications, may be sent to the UP Baguio Residence Hall.
Monetary gifts in cash, check, or electronic funds, through over-the-counter or digital transactions may be deposited to the UP College Baguio (UPCB) Educational Foundation bank account with BPI Baguio Burnham Branch: account name UPCB Educational Foundation Inc, account number 0560-0126-24.
Donations may also be coursed through the UP System using secured payment gateways via kaagapay.up.edu.ph. For more information, please visit facebook.com/OfficialUPB or email [email protected]. – Press release
