An educational donation drive has been mounted to benefit one of the far-flung schools in Ampucao, Itogon, Benguet.
Mounted by a group of volunteers led by Mikee Shaira Cosalan, the donation drive seeks to gather hygiene kits and school supplies for students and teachers of Tapsan Elementary School located at sitio Saes.
Cosalan said her group aims to turn over the items on March 12 that will benefit 54 pupils.
The Tapsan ES, formerly known as Paday Community School, offers kindergarten to Grade 6 and has three teachers as staff. The school is also 20 kilometers away from the nearest private secondary and elementary schools.
There are 10 students enrolled in kindergarten, seven in Grade 1, eight in Grade 2, six in Grade 3, seven in Grade 4, six in Grade 5, and 10 in Grade 6.
“Due to Covid-19 pandemic each and every one of us is affected, and I believe that the spirit of bayanihan is still alive in each and every one of us. Despite the effects of pandemic, we would like to share our blessings and share joy to these children,” Cosalan said.
The group is currently looking for donors for hygiene kits: toothbrush, small towels, toothpaste and small soap; school supplies for the children: glue, scissors, color, watercolor, compass (23 pieces), protractor (23), correction tape (23); and school and teacher needs: staplers, sign pens, alcohol, face mask, microphone with condenser, document organizer (plastic type 3 compartments), office chairs (three pieces), computer table, paint and paint brushes, and paint rollers.
She said they are also accepting food and vitamin donations as well as cash or in-kind donations.
“Rest assured that every donation will be properly acknowledged and posted for transparency,” Cosalan said.
