The economy and tourism can recover now
The Philippines has been in community quarantine for seven months now, too long for many people to be locked down in their homes.
By now, the quarantine classification of places based on Covid-19 case figures as determinants should have been known so that those with insignificant or manageable cases could open their borders among themselves without travel restrictions while adhering to health protocols.
It is presumed that the local government units have safeguarded the health of their residents.
The economy and tourism can recover when people freely go to work to have the means to spend in essential business establishments which will grow and move around to enjoy the blessings of nature.
Agriculture should also be enhanced to ensure adequate food supply to strengthen our capacity to cope with the health crisis.
Some of the police could be mobilized to help in environmental cleanliness and forest rehabilitation tasks.
Our wealth in natural resources should also be regenerated to secure the economy and tourism. — PERCIVAL B. ALIPIT, Baguio City
