Enforce regulations against harmful vehicular emissions

Gas emissions from motor vehicles have become a major pollutant which causes atmospheric warming, extreme weather events, and respiratory disorders in all living things.
Despite the requirement of an emission test before a motor vehicle is registered, one could readily notice several vehicles emitting thick smoke.
The number of vehicles keeps on increasing but the plant population that absorbs carbon dioxide is dwindling.
Wearing of face mask against Covid-19 is not mandatory anymore, but if you ask people why they still cover their noses and mouth, they say it is to prevent them from inhaling the harmful exhaust of vehicles.
The Clean Air Act, Anti-smoke Belching Act, and the regreening program of government must be seriously implemented to safeguard the environment from degradation and to protect our health for us to live longer. — PERCIVAL B. ALIPIT, Baguio City
