The 1st Salun-at Fun Walkathon will be held on June 24, 5:30 a.m. at SM Baguio with three race categories.

The Seniors Category walks towards Panagbenga Park then back to SM Baguio, while the Family Category (Parent and Child) walks towards South Drive, Benguet Electric Cooperative Office then back to SM Baguio while the Open Category walks towards South Drive Barangay Hall then back to SM Baguio.

To ensure participants will walk and not run, the Boy Scouts Baguio City Council will guide the participants along the route.

The walkathon is designed to highlight Baguio as a walkable city to encourage citizens to add walking as part of their healthy family lifestyle.

To add fun to the activity, the last 20 meters will require all participants to walk backwards and do a five-second dance after crossing the finish line at SM Baguio.

Race organizer Danilo Quinto in coordination with City Sports Coordinator Gaudencio Gonzales; Arch. Donna Tabangin of the City Planning, Development, and Sustainability Office; Councilor Lilia Farinas; Scout Exec Ramon Jacinto; and the City Public Information Office are one in encouraging qualified residents and visitors to register free of charge by scanning the QR Code at the FB PIO page or the Midland Courier June 11 issue or the event posters at Session Road and at SM City Baguio.

Winners in the three categories will receive gift certificates from sponsors and from SM Baguio.

The awarding ceremony will also include the launching of the Walk Baguio Movement,  special zumba dance numbers, jump rope exhibition from Lukso Baguio, and a special number from the Baguio Central School Archers and Koolitz, the national dance competition champions who are scheduled to go to the U.S.A for the World Dance Competitions.
