Young dan-cesports athletes from Baguio City won two gold medals in the RSV Open Ballroom competition in Silay City, Negros Occidental on Nov. 19.

The duo of Seth Matthew Bambalan and Maezyl Jesa Fernando of the Baguio Dancesports Team won two gold medals in the couple events, the juvenile A LatinAmerican discipline (five dance) and the juvenile two C Latin American discipline (three dance).

In their respective solo events, Bambalan bagged a silver in samba, two bronze medals in chachacha and jive and reached sixth place in quickstep and tango.

Fernando placed fourth in samba, jive, chachacha and fifth place in chachacha in her age group.

With the help of coach Terrence Jeoffrey Soriano, the duo competed during the event attended by delegates in the country and organized by former Philippine team champion Ronnie Steve Vergara.

The young athletes were the only representative of Baguio City during the competition.  

The duo were also champions in the juvenile 2C Latin American discipline at the 24th Philippine DanceSport Federation National Championship.

The event was the first appearance in a national competition of the couple of the TJS Baguio Dancesport team, who also won a silver medal in the juvenile A Latin American Discipline.

Meanwhile, the second edition of the dancesports training camp for all ages started on weekend and will continue on Dec. 10 and 11 at the Capitol court in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Interested participants will be able to go through the technique class (Latin American and modern standard), sports conditioning, World Dancesport Federation general knowledge on dancesports, and the four components of Latin American and modern standard.

The event aims to train individuals across all ages especially those with potential for the juvenile, junior, youth categories, under-21, adult and senior competitive dancing categories.
