The city council committee on the whole will hold a public consultation on June 4 to gather inputs on the request of RCC Global Entertainment to operate traditional and e-bingo in Baguio.
The consultation is in deference to the suggestion of Mayor Benjamin Magalong who refused to sign the council’s resolution endorsing the operation of traditional and e-bingo, citing the need for prior public consultation before operation.
The council has explored three options when Resolutions 208 and 209 were returned to them – veto the mayor, schedule a consultation, and archive both resolutions.
Majority voted for the holding of a consultation with only Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda voting against and councilors Philian Allan and Levy Orcales abstaining.
The consultation will be done physically and virtual with representatives from the business, religious, education, and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation among those who will be invited next month.
In the council’s April 19 session, Tabanda, one of those who voted against the proposal of RCC Global Entertainment, said the company lacked the documents to serve as basis of the council in consenting to the request.
She said the council usually requires applicants of such businesses to submit other documents, such as certification from the City Planning and Development Office that the site is suitable for the purpose and a document from Pagcor proving that RCC Global is licensed to operate traditional and e-bingo.
