BONTOC, Mountain Province – More road projects funded under the Department of the Interior and Local Government-Conditional Matching Grants to Provinces (DILG-CMGP) are set for implementation this year.
Gov. Bonifacio Lacwasan, together with DILG and local officials, led the groundbreaking of four provincial roads which are expected to be completed within the year.
These road projects are the upgrading of Abatan-Bagnen Provincial Road worth P24 million, Ampawilen-Sadanga Provincial Road (P24M), Talubin-Can-eo Provincial Road (P24M), and Guinzadan-Banao-Andanum Provincial Road (P21.7M).
Before the groundbreaking ceremonies for the four road projects, the ribbon-cutting ceremony and blessing of the P36.4-M worth Abatan-Bagnen Road improvement project under the DILG-CMGP for 2018 was held.
Provincial Engineer Edward B. Likigan acknowledged the efforts of all concerned offices in the provincial government and the DILG for including the provincial government in the project grants.
“The requisites for the grant are quite stringent. Almost all offices in the provincial government were involved in accomplishing the requirements before the projects were implemented,” Likigan said.
He said the CMGP projects are in addition to the ongoing road projects funded under the I-BUILD component of the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) and the projects implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Likigan said the improvement of the Abatan-Bagnen Road section will be completed with the series of road improvements in the area.
DILG-Cordillera Local Government Operations Officer VI Jimmy B. Pagaddut urged the community to help monitor and safeguard the projects and help convince affected lot owners to allow the road upgrading for progress and development.
Lacwasan expressed his gratitude to the DILG for bringing more projects to Mountain Province.
