The lone Cordilleran cadet to complete the top 10 graduates of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 2022 is a young woman from Bauko, Mountain Province.
PNPA announced last week that Police Cadet Alyssa Angalan Bantasan of Guinzadan, Bauko ranked 10th in the order merit roll among members of PNPA Alab-Kalis Class 2022, who will graduate at Camp Gen. Mariano Castañeda in Silang, Cavite on April 21.
Before entering the academy, the 23-year-old Bantasan completed her bachelor’s degree in Criminology at the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College in 2018. She is the second among the six siblings of farmer Wilner and public school teacher Frida Bantasan.
The upcoming police officer applied for PNPA cadetship while finishing her on-the-job training and community immersion for her degree.
Bantasan is a Dean’s lister in college, and she carried this over as she went through rigid training at PNPA and earned accolades for her grades.
“As a farmer’s daughter, her physical stamina has been shaped through the years of helping out in her father’s garden, which was her foundation in enduring the police discipline during her four-year stay at the institution,” the PNPA statement said.
The PNPA also announced this year’s class valedictorian is P/Cdt. Ernie Alarba Padernilla of Iloilo and is the recipient of the Presidential Kampilan Award, Chief PNP Kampilan Award, and Best Thesis Award.
The class salutatorian is P/Cdt. Regina Joy Belmi Caguioa of Taguig City, Metro Manila and recipient of the Vice Presidential Kampilan Award while the third in rank is P/Cdt. Precious Shermaine Domingo Lee of San Juan City, Metro Manila and recipient of the SILG Kampilan Award.
The other top-notchers are P/Cdt. Fidel III Elona Triste of Palo, Leyte; P/Cdt. Geneva Limjuco Flores of San Carlos City, Pangasinan; P/Cdt. Zoe Compleza Seloterio of Santa Barbara, Iloilo and an Athletic Kampilan awardee; Fire Cadet Neil Winston Navalta of Dippun, Quirino and a Bureau of Fire Protection Kampilan awardee; P/Cdt.
