A total of 113 barangays in the city are drug-cleared, according to the Baguio City Police Office.
Baguio City Police Office Community Affairs Division Chief Judy Jasmin Palicos reported this during the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac) meeting recently.
Palicos said of the city’s 128 barangays, 11 are under drug clearing operations and four are unaffected by illegal drugs.
Palicos said the drug affected barangays are Lourdes Subdivision Extension, Dominican Hill, Fairview, Pinget, Lower Magsaysay, Sto. Niño-Slaughterhouse Compound, Gibraltar, Loakan Proper, Kayang Extension, Irisan, and Barangay Bakakeng Central.
She added from October to December 2021, the BCPO conducted 42 anti-illegal drugs operations with 37 buy-busts, one service of search warrant, and four service of warrants of arrest.
From Jan. 1 to March 20, this year, meanwhile, Palicos said her office conducted 39 operations including 38 buy-bust activities and one service of search warrant.
Palicos said the BCPO seized drugs valued at P703,696 including 95 grams of shabu and 480.8 grams of marijuana from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31 last year, while P449,663 worth of drugs was seized from Jan. 1 to March 20, including 62.66 grams of shabu; 141 grams of marijuana and 60 ml of marijuana oil.
The mayor, who is also Cadac chair, encouraged members of the Cadac to continue working together with government in sustaining the city’s anti-illegal drugs campaign and make Baguio a ‘drug-free city’.
Also in the meeting facilitated by the City Mayor’ Office’s Special Services Division were BCPO Dir., Col. Glenn Lonogan; Department of the Interior and Local Government-Baguio Office Director Evelyn Trinidad; City Mayor’s Office Executive Assistant Benjamin Macadangdang, barangay officials, and representatives of various agencies and non-government organizations. – Gaby B.
