The Department of Trade and Industry and the City Government of Baguio have issued safety seal certificates to 15 business establishments in the city.
As part of the joint undertaking between the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Tourism, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Health, and DTI, the Safety Seal Certification Program is meant to assure consumers and the public of the establishment’s compliance with minimum health standards set by the government.
The safety seal issued to a qualified establishment affirms that the holder has conformed to the following requirements: registration/accreditation requirements such as mayor’s permit and DTI/SEC registration; and use of StaySafe.ph or any contact tracing tool integrated with the same; and enforcement of the minimum public health standards.
DTI Sec. Ramon Lopez congratulated the awardees and encouraged other stores to apply for certification citing efforts such as these can lead to economic activity.
“We are learning to manage the pandemic. We still have a very big consumer market waiting to be revived and any small reopening that we are doing, immediately we see an instant positive reaction in terms of growth by our visitors,” he said. 0
The establishments that received the safety seal certificates from DTI are Tony and Jackey Salon, SM Supermarket, Ace Hardware, Pines Seamless Telecom Shop, David’s Salon, and Kwentong Barbero Barbershop.
Safety seal certificates were also awarded to SM City Baguio, The SM Store, Surplus, Watsons, SM Appliance Center, Zark’s Burger, Don Henrico’s, Gringo: Chicken, Ribs, Friend, and Buffalo Wings and Things by the city government.
As of June 28, 24 establishments have applied for the seal through the DTI microsite, with 12 approved under DTI and another 10 were endorsed to the city government as the issuing authority. Two of the 24 applications are subject to reinspection.
