SABANGAN, Mountain Province – Sitio Doskit, Barangay Napua, a community 22 kilometers away from the town, got energized through the Cleanergy, Hedcor’s energization program.

The electrification program energized 17 households, and a hundred more are expected to get their electricity.

Hedcor tapped the Mountain Province Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Mopreco) to install electric wires and posts in the community.

“We, in Hedcor, remain committed in accelerating the development of our host community and in easing the day-to-day activities of the residents, especially the students as they venture into the changes brought about by the pandemic,” said Berny Zamoranos, Hedcor Sabangan Grid manager.

Zamoranos added Hedcor treats access to electricity as a basic human right as it allows them to power technology used every day. “We envision the community of Sabangan to enjoy the same, especially simple light at night.”

Napua Punong Barangay Peter Ing-inga said living without electricity slows down progress. Now, he is excited to see how the community can further thrive and how the residents can enjoy technologies such as entertainment and communications.

The ceremonial switch-on was attended by Sabangan Mayor Marcial Lawilao, Jr., Ing-inga, Mopreco team headed by Engr. Jimmy Depalog, and Doskit residents.
