Two graduates of Benguet State University landed in top 10 of the recent agriculturist licensure examination administered by the Professional Regulation Commission.

Alladin Albindo Bañez placed fourth with 87.17 percent rating while Rachelle Del Monte Baterna placed fifth with 85 percent rating during the November licensureexamination which saw 1,172 out of the 3,927 takers nationwide passing the test.

Bañez tied for fourth spot with Jernet Lago of Silliman University while Baterna shared the fifth place with Aurish Kizia Calawen of University of Southern Mindanao-Kabacan and Jason Macario Caducoy of Central Mindanao University.

The two BSUalumni topnotchers were among the 105 passers out of 236 examinees from the La Trinidad campus.

BSU College of Agriculture Dean Janet Pablo said Bañez and Baterna are among the cream of the crop of the college.

She said Bañez, who took up Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness, graduated as magna cum laude while Baterna, who took up BS in Agriculture major in Entomology, is a cum laude.

Ella Hazel Barbarona Estrada of Visayas State University-Baybay topped the board examination with 86 percent passing rate followed by John Carlos Daga-ang Boyles also of the same university and Vivian Espique Timple of the University of the Philippines-Los Baños.

Only UPLB was able to enter the top performing school list with its 100 percent passing rate of 59 examinees who passed.

PRC reported that higher learning institutions are tagged as “top performing schools” when they have more than 50 passing examinees and at least an 80 percent passing rate.

In the 2019 board exams, BSU’s Chelle Charlden Cosme Carlos placed sixth with 88.33 percent passing rate while Ifugao State University-Lamut’s Imee Gallawon Mutal placed ninth with 87.67 percent passing rate.  

Last year’s agriculturist board exam was postponed as a precaution against the Covid-19.

The PRC said the registration for the issuance of professional ID card and certificate of registration will be done online at the www.prc.gov.ph site. 

Also, the date and venue for the oath taking ceremony for the successful examinees will be announced later by the PRC. – Ofelia C. Empian
