Two persons died and 15 were injured in two separate vehicular accidents in Baguio City and Benguet on April 6.
In the early morning of April 6, a Toyota Tamaraw FX hit the railings of the flyover in Magsaysay Avenue in Baguio City that killed two persons and hurt four others.
The fatalities were Cherry Lyn Monte Sasa, 25, and Rodel Polano, 18. Injured were Fe Serafino Trimo, 25; Dariel Pacalso Soligan, 21; Jonar Talabing Taukan, 17; and Marson Anhibey Sab-it, 18.
Police reported the victims were headed to La Trinidad, Benguet in a Tamaraw FX vehicle driven by Sasa when the car hit the concrete railings of the flyover.
After it hit the railings, the impact sent the vehicle over to its side.
Sasa was dead on the spot while Polano was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Trimo was brought to a hospital and is now in stable condition while the rest of the victims had minor injuries and were allowed to go home.
Meanwhile, another Tamaraw FX fell down the ravine in Sitio Cabanao, Shilan, La Trinidad where 11 individuals were hurt.
Police reported the victims were going up the steep barangay road when the vehicle’s engine suddenly stopped, causing it to back up until it fell down the ravine.
The driver was identified as Milandro Monsong while the passengers were Jamil Antonio, Catherine Kimay, Cathline Kimay, Rona Antonio, Lyn Alfonso, Andrew Alfonso, Sylvia Ocbos, Bellia Mamuyac, Georgina Delmas, and Sylvester Ocbos. – Ofelia C. Empian
