Various activities have been set for the 2022 Regional Science and Technology Week.

Among the activities set by the Department of Science and Technology-Cordillera are the launching of two landslide-related programs and a summit for small-scale businesses.

DOST-Cordillera Director Nancy Bantog said the agency will launch the agency-funded Landslide Knowledge Management System at the University of the Philippines Baguio and the Modelling Understanding Landslide Events in the Baguio-La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba-Tublay, a project that was endorsed by the Regional development Council and funded by the DOST central office.

Science and Technology exhibits featuring the research and development initiatives by various institutions in the region will be held.

The Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (Setup) Summit will highlight the awarding of Best Setup Adoptor and Best Community Empowerment though Science and Technology Community for 2021-2022.

Bantog said webinars featuring Smart Manufacturing Solutions through the projects of DOST Metals Industry Research and Development Center and capability building are set to cater to the training needs of the research and development ecosystem and micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs in the region.

The Webinar on Industry 4.0 technologies for the Weaving Industry will be conducted on Sept. 21.  This will cover introduction to the digitization of weave patterns and textiles, hands-on navigation, and basic weave pattern drafting using an advance weaving software. The Cordillera Weave Fashion Show, talk show, and exhi-bit will be conducted in the afternoon of the same day at the Benguet State University gymnasium. – Debbie E. Gasingan
