BANGUED, Abra – At least 272 indigent students from Tineg received educational assistance under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).

Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Miracle Esther C. Batawang said the municipality was allotted P1 million educational assistance for college, senior high school, and junior high school students.

Batawang said the AICS was through the initiative of Sen. Loren Legarda in partnership with the DSWD and the local government of Tineg.

Beneficiaries are from households with less that P29,000 monthly income. The fund was divided among the 10 barangays of the municipality.

For the three most populous barangays, namely Caganayan, Agsimao, and Alaoa, 19 slots were allotted for college beneficiaries and 10 each for senior and junior high school students.

For barangays Anayan, Apao, Belaat, Cogon, Lanec, Lapat-Balantay, and Naglibacan, 10 slots were given for college students, six for senior high school, and five for junior high school beneficiaries.

College students received P5,000, senior high school  students got  P3,000, and junior high school beneficiaries  P2,000 each.

The payout was held at the covered court of Bangued last Oct. 4.

Tineg Mayor Brethren Jireeh Crisologo assured the continuous support of the local government to education and the students in the municipality.

“Ada latta iti gobyerno lokal ti Tineg nga mangsuporta para ti pagsayaatan ti amin nga estudyante,” he said.

The mayor also reiterated to the students to do good in their studies so they can have a better future. – Jam Malingan
