Registration is ongoing for the first in-person dance sports competition in the Cordillera on Oct. 23 at the Baguio Convention Center.

The 2nd Cordillera Dance Festival which will be participated by dancers from Northern Luzon only will focus on competitive ballroom dancing featuring closed events.

Deadline of registration is on Sept. 26.

Dancesports Cordillera, Inc. Head Charibelle Pingawan said there are delegations who already submitted their interest to attend the competition.

Pingawan, who also coaches the Benguet Dancesports Team and consultant for the Baguio City team, said the previous online competitions has helped shape the athletes in preparation for bigger competitions as restrictions have eased.

The dance fest will also sharpen the skills of 15 years old and under participants who will join the Batang Pinoy national finals this December.

Categories are Latin and standard for solo dancers in the juvenile 1, 2 and junior 1 and 2; while the Latin and standard couple events are for juvenile C, junior C, and youth C.

Open events meanwhile, will be for dancers from other parts of the country.

Categories are solo (Latin and standard) – juvenile and junior; duo (Latin) – juvenile, junior, youth and adult; and the couple events (Latin and standard) – juvenile 1c, 2c, A; junior C and A; youth C and A; grades D, C, B and A under 21; special event 1C, 2C, 3C, 3A, senior D, C, A; teacher-teacher, teacher-student (for the Department of Education); and the third kind.

Tickets for general admission costs P300 and P500 for VIP for the evening and day events.

Only 268 VIP seats and 1,032 general admission seats will be available for the day and night events. – Ofelia C. Empian
