Three Cordillerans are among the new breed of leaders who took their oath as officials of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Among the 10 undersecretaries are Marco Bautista from San Juan, Abra and Denise Florence Bernos-Bragas from Danglas, also in Abra.

Irene Dumlao of Baguio City was also appointed as one of the 11 assistant secretaries.
DSWD-Cordillera Director Arnel Garcia was promoted to assistant secretary.

Sec. Erwin Tulfo challenged the new leaders to make a difference in the lives of the Filipinos.

“We have a mission. Our mission is to help the less fortunate, the elderly, the vulnerable, people with disabilities,” he said.

He also reminded the new officials and other personnel of the agency to treat the people right following complaints of unjust treatment by some DSWD employees to their clients. With the new leaders, the DSWD assured to provide continuous excellent public service anchored in its new brand, “Bawat buhay mahalaga”. – Debbie E. Gasingan
