Three local government units in the region can now proceed with the procurement process for the implementation of their proposed enterprises with the approval of more than P21 million for the projects.
The Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Project Support Office has issued the No Objection Letter on the subprojects proposed by three provincial LGUs.
The approved subprojects are the banana (cardava) production, consolidation, and marketing of Conner, Apayao worth P9,673,264.
The subproject will be implemented by the Calaoan Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-purpose Cooperative in Conner.
Another subproject is the commercialization of ubi production and marketing enterprise worth P2,313,250 to be implemented by Bulala Talete Ubi Farmers Association in Sablan, Benguet.
The heirloom rice processing and marketing enterprise of Sadanga, Mountain Province worth P9,161,293.30 will be implemented by Anabel Sandanga Multi-purpose Cooperative.
The subprojects were endorsed for funding by the Cordillera Regional Project Advisory Board for PRDP in Oct. 24, 2019.
DA Regional Executive Director and PRDP Regional Project Coordination Office Director Cameron P. Odsey said the proponent groups were previously assisted by the DA through its regular and other special projects such as the Cordillera Highland Agricultural Resource Management Project.
Odsey is hoping for the continuity and sustainability of the subprojects as the proponent groups are previous beneficiaries of the DA. – Elvy S. Taquio
