Three up and coming fighters of Lions Nation MMA will see action in the inaugural event of local sports promotion Zeus Combat League at SM North Sky Dome in Quezon City on May 25.
Reports said the main event of the tournament dubbed “Ground Zero” will be a flyweight battle between Lions Nation MMA’s Aaron Posawen and Marwin Quirante.
The other two fighters from the team formed by reigning and former world mixed martial arts champions from the Cordillera are Denver Songaben and Jahn Serbo.
The 24-year-old Posawen from Cervantes, Ilocos Sur made his presence felt in the local mixed martial arts community courtesy of his four wins against one loss record.
His latest fight appearance was in August 2023 when he stopped a fellow highlander opponent via knockout.
His opponent, Quirante, is also a known tough fighter with a rising record of 2-1 and has fought under the Ultimate Reality Combat Championship, the promotion that molded Cordilleran world champions.
Songaben, meanwhile, will face the undefeated Jayson Miralpez, also in a flyweight bout.
The undefeated Serbo will test anew his mettle against the more veteran Arsenio Balisacan in the 120-pound catchweight match.
