The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council will be holding the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on Sept. 9, 9 a.m. with Baguio City as the focal area.
The activity aims to ensure that essential response capabilities are ready and operational for the accomplishment of critical tasks during emergencies giving emphasis on emergency procedures and protocols, coordination, and communication. 
As recommended by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Baguio will serve as the pilot area for the NSED. As such, the city government of Baguio is enjoining all stakeholders to participate in the online simulation exercise through performing the “duck, cover, and hold” in their homes and offices.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office have conducted several coordination meetings with Office of the Civil Defense and other key stakeholders for the 3rd NSED. But due to limitations on gatherings 19, there will only be a number of scenarios that will be prearranged in various areas within the city and select municipalities of Benguet. 
With the impending threats of Covid-19, it is required that responders and actors during the NSED should have been vaccinated and will be wearing personal protective equipment.
Evaluators from the national government will be joining the 3rd NSED to assess the city on its disaster preparedness against earthquakes and test the contingency plans. Results of the assessment would be used to identify the gaps will be the basis in improving all significant disaster risk reduction plans as well as continuously develop a resilient city and citizenry. – Press release
