More than 8,000 from the city’s five to 11 age group are already registered at bakuna.baguio.gov.ph for vaccination expected to be administered anytime next month.
The number represents 17 percent of the estimated 46,000 of Baguio’s younger age group. The City Health Services Office is preparing the requirements and guidelines for the process and procedures for the rollout.
More are called to register for the generation of QR codes to be presented during vaccination.
The schedule and vaccine centers, similar to that of the 12 to 17 age group vaccination program, are expected to be out the soonest.
A shipment of 780,000 specially formulated Pfizer vaccines is awaited. The number is part of a 15 million cache of vaccines expected to fulfill the nationwide vaccination of the pediatric group.
Upon arrival of the vaccines, the rollout is expected in hospitals and non-hospital venues in the National Capital Region followed by the other regions.
Parents are urged to be responsible for educating and communicating to their children that vaccines are formulated for their safety and for protection from viruses and expected variants. – Julie G. Fianza
