The “500 Years: Sing to heal online challenge” is an activity to celebrate our 500 years of Christianity. We are gifted with faith that was not spared from test, challenge, disappointment, and doubt but proved God’s might, mercy, and love.
It is but proper to praise and thank God for his unending guidance and shepherding that protected our faith and nurtured us. The online challenge is our creative way of celebrating the 500th year gift of faith amidst the pandemic.
It is also our way of thanking the early missionaries who brought Christianity to the Philippines.
It is our humble way of spreading positivity through creativity. Music, dances, and arts are gifts and they must be shared, as the motto says, “Gifted to give.” The pandemic’s impact is felt by the whole world. It made us ponder deeply about life and about God. We have experienced a lot of negativities due to the pandemic and yet we need to move on. We need to spread positivity to overcome these negativities of life through creativity.
The Covid-19 pandemic, devastating it may be, cannot stop us in our constructive battle against social issues that disturb peace. Different vices have crept into our communities and homes. We must cooperate and collaborate to overcome them. Boredom, anxiety, and depression are alarming. Music is one of the most doable and healthy ways of overcoming the evils of these pandemic.
The youth is a vulnerable sector of the community. They can be the best playground and experiment of vices and crime.
Hence, we need to involve the youth in our advocacy against vices and depression through creativity like involving then in arts, dance, and music. These are beautiful elements of life and are attractive to the youth, hence, it makes sense to make use of them in our battle against social illness.
These forms of arts and creativity will not only attract the physical eye but also move the heart to its message. Creativity in the midst of pandemic will surely impact on our life to conversion and to love peace and strengthening.
Of course, the online challenge incites interest and enthusiasm of winning. Nevertheless, we must transcend our intention and see the deeper purpose of this activity.
We are all winners because we are using our talents and creativity to praise and thank God and to sustain peace even as we also animate and inspire people.
We are all winners because we lead each one to a common understanding that we are all morally responsible in promoting peace in our communities as our way to glorify God.
Those who will make it to the top five deserve a snappy salute and to those who will not, let us be consoled that our objectives will be our motivation and victory. Be inspired and be a daily reminder of faith, hope, charity, and peace through our talents.
