BONTOC, Mountain Province – Health services in the province is getting a boost with the Department of Health providing six type 1 fully-equipped ambulance vehicles to the province’s health facilities.
Provincial officials led by Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr., Rep. Maximo Y. Dalog Jr. represented by Atty. Brent S. Focasan, some mayors, and DOH doctors received the ambulances from DOH Regional Director Rio L. Magpantay on Oct. 11 in Baguio City.
Recipients are the rural health units of Barlig and Bontoc, Anastacia-Rafael Sagel Memorial Hospital, Besao District Hospital, Barlig District Hospital, and Paracelis District Hospital.
They are among the 16 RHUs and hospitals in the Cordillera who received ambulances under the DOH’s Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) amounting P33,682,320.
An orientation on basic ambulance operations to the ambulance nurses and drivers was provided by the supplier, One Top Medical System Resources.
Mayor Jerome Tudlong, Jr. expressed his gratitude to the DOH-CAR for the unending support to the municipality.
“On behalf of the people and officialdom of Bontoc, I thank the DOH-CAR for the provision of a fully-equipped ambulance as the municipality is in need of additional ambulance to provide more competent and improved health services to the community,” he said in a post at the official social media account of Bontoc LGU.
Barlig also stated the provision of a new ambulance to the municipality is timely because of the situation its current ambulance is in.
The HFEP is one of the banner programs of the DOH that started during the Aquino administration for the upgrading of health facilities as well as providing training to health professionals to improve the access of people to quality health care. – Valerie Taguba
