LAGAWE, Ifugao – Five municipalities and two barangays in the province were among the local government units recognized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development for the implementation of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) program for 2021 and 2022.

During the recent Kalahi-CIDSS Local Government Forum and Bayani Ka awards held in Baguio City, Tinoc was awarded as Best Performing Kalahi-CIDSS Municipality as of Sept. 30 under the National Community-Driven Development Program (NCDDP)-Additional Financing Modality Group 1.

Mayoyao was also recognized as Kalahi-CIDSS Municipality Key Performance Indicator Achiever with 35 percent Women on Paid Labor for Phase 1 Implementation under NCDDP-Additional Financing (AF) modality.

Hingyon was recognized as the third Best Performing Kalahi-CIDSS Municipality under NCDDP-AF Group 2.

For 2021, Hingyon and Aguinaldo were the second best performing while Asipulo was third the best performing under the Kalahi-CIDSS Municipality-NCDDP-AF Group 2 and 1, respectively.

Two barangays in Kiangan also received awards for the 2022 Regional Bayani Ka category.

Barangay Tuplac was awarded as Best Group Advocate for Indigenous Know-ledge Systems and Practices while Barangay Lingay was the Best Group Advocate for Gender and Development.

The LGU forum served as an opportunity for the various stakeholders to share their implementation experiences at the community level and facilitate the enhancement of various facets of the said program which uses a community-driven development approach.

Kalahi-CIDSS is a poverty alleviation program of the government being implemented by the DSWD. It uses the community-driven development approach, a globally recognized strategy for achieving service delivery, poverty reduction, and good governance outcomes. – Florida B. Robles
