TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Department of Social Welfare and Development here released P600,000 to 40 beneficiaries of the Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) in four conflict-vulnerable areas.
Erlinda Taquiqui, team head of the Social Welfare and Development (SWAD), said checks worth P15,000 each were delivered and released on Sept. 16 to the nine beneficiaries from Barangay Balantoy and five in Gawaan, both in Balbalan and 16 beneficiaries in Upper Uma and 10 in Lower Uma in Lubuagan on Sept. 17.
There are 90 LAG beneficiaries identified in nine conflict-vulnerable areas, also the target barangays of the Provincial Task Force to End Communist Armed Conflict for convergence program, with total assistance of P1,350,000. Taquiqui said checks for the 50 beneficiaries are also ready for release.
Other eligible beneficiaries are from Barangay Dupag of this city, Babalag in Rizal, barangays Ballayangon and Apatan in Pinukpuk, and Guinaang in Pasil with 10 each.
The recipients were identified by the barangays, Taquiqui said.
The provincial government has also referred to SWAD the application of 17 documented former rebels for assistance coverage under DSWD’s Livelihood Settlement Grant amounting to P20,000 per individual. The application of the 15 is on process.
Completion of requirements is also on-going for another 12 former rebels referred by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office. This is being done in coordination with other Elcac members and concerned LGUs. – Peter A. Balocnit
