BONTOC, Mountain Province – This municipality is a grateful recipient of the newly constructed Covid-19 health facility in the province. 
Department of Public Works and Highways-Mountain Province First District Engineering Office (MPFDEO) represented by District Engineer Januario Garde turned over the P7,963,422 worth facility located at Sitio Am-anchu, Bontoc Ili to the municipal government represented by Mayor Franklin Odsey on Feb. 15. 
Project Engineer Samuel Maskay of the DPWH-MPFDEO said the fund for the project was sourced out from the national government under fiscal year 2021 National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management fund.
The project is a joint undertaking of the MPFDEO; Office of Rep. Maximo Dalog, Jr.; and the local government unit.
It was constructed for the management, monitoring, and treatment of Covid-19 patients in the capital town.
Maskay said the project covers the construction of the facilities, construction of two comfort rooms, purchase of amenities provided in every room, opening of road access and land development, and electrical wirings.
The facility has 20 beds and a waiting area. Each room has a bed, a table, a chair, and an IV stand.
Rev. Elvie Tulingan of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern Philippines officiated the blessing of the facility.
Garde; Maintenance Section Chief, Engr. Domingo Pumecha; and Maskay thanked the partner agencies and contractor Lewin Vanne of General Engineering and Construction for completing the project.  
Garde encouraged the LGU and residents to take care of the facility. 
“This building is yours. You must take good care of it. Maintain and protect it,” he said. 
Odsey expressed gratitude to the MPFDEO and the Dalog’s office. He also thanked the contractor for the completion of the project. 
He said the Covid-19 facility will help hospitals in Mountain Province handle severe and critical patients. 
“The completion of this facility is a dream come true because of our concerted efforts. We assure you that Bontoc LGU will improve the facility and provide other needed materials or logistics to give the best service to Covid-19 patients who will be staying here,” he said. – Alpine Killa-Malwagay
