More than 200,000 individuals in the Cordillera who are eligible for vaccination against the Covid-19 are still unvaccinated.

The Department of Health-Cordillera Vaccination Operations Center reported that as of June 14, a total of 215,905 in the region remain unvaccinated against the Covid-19 out of the target 70 percent of the 80.67 percent of the population of 1,481,793.

Dr. Camille Justine Malinit, DOH-CAR medical officer III, reported bulk of those who are still unvaccinated are from Benguet with 131,254 followed by Ifugao with 72,645; Kalinga with 27,404; Mountain Province with 27,272; and Apayao with 8,598 individuals.

Baguio City and Abra have surpassed their target population coverage with 109.31 percent and 100.90 percent fully vaccinated population, respectively.

For vulnerable groups, out of the 85 percent of the 135,096 target senior citizens under priority A2 group, 6,573 are still unvaccinated. So far, 90.58 percent or 122,368 senior citizens are fully vaccinated and 95.13 percent or 128,523 have at least one dose.

Benguet has yet to reach the target for the A2 population having fully vaccinated 60.66 percent or 21,136 of the 34,841 target.

For the 18 to 59 years old, a total of 149,293 are still with zero doses out of the 1,038,752 target. Those who had one dose comprise 889,459 or 85.63 percent and there are 850,949 or 81.92 percent who are fully vaccinated.

Malinit also reported many of region’s young population are not yet vaccinated.

For the five to 11 years old population, 169,281 are still with zero doses out of the 249,754 target.

Most of them are also from Benguet with 52,560; Ifugao with 30,072; Baguio City with 29,497; Kalinga with 22,290; Mountain Province with 15,393; Apayao with 12,380; and Abra with 6,989 still unvaccinated five to 11-year-olds.

So far, 66,876 five to 11-year-olds have been fully vaccinated and 80,473 have one dose.

In the 12 to 17 years old group, 39,611 are still with zero doses out of the 207,044 target.

In the entire region, 314,022 have had their boosters or additional Covid-19 shots.

At the moment, Benguet have yet to reach its target population coverage with 245,394 fully vaccinated out of the 394,649 target, or at 62.18 percent while Ifugao’s accomplishment is 54 percent or 92,959 fully vaccinated out of 172,134 target.

All in all, the Cordillera has vaccinated 1,265,888 or 85.43 percent with one dose and fully vaccinate 1,202,559 or 81.16 percent out of the target population.

Malinit said there is a need to push those who are not yet vaccinated, especially the parents of the pediatric population, to have themselves vaccinated. – Hanna C. Lacsamana
