Retired police general Ed Basbas carded the lowest 67 gross among all golfers to win as the champion in the latest edition of the Kafagway golf tournament at the Baguio Country Club on weekend.

This is the second time Basbas emerged the winner of the Kafagway golf series after he also fired a five-over par 61 in January 2020.

Pol Mayos carded 43 Molave points to win as champion in the member men’s class A followed by Mon Aldana and Ely Lagman with 42 points apiece.

Budz Royeca topped the member men’s B with 37 points followed by Bong Tabora with 33, and Mariano Ang with 32.

The member ladies’ A was topped by Nora Sy with 36 points followed by Rachelle Julian with 22 while Mel Donato bagged the member ladies’ B with 31 points followed by Beth Patterson with 26 and Lanie Julian with 24.

Julian also won the most accurate drive special award.

Janette Reyes fired 44 points to win the ladies’ guest division.

Lawyer Henry Rosito had 50 points to win the men’s guest class A followed by Manny Solis with 45 and Warren Lee Dagupon with 44 while Donald Daganos topped the men’s B with 37 points followed by Ramon Alimba, Jr. with 33, and Ralph Young with 31.

Alimba, who is among the regular golfers from Mankayan, Benguet along with Rosito and Daganos, also clinched the nearest to the pin. Nineteen-year-old Christopher Turtoga, meanwhile, won the longest drive award when his ball reached 281 yards at hole 3. – Harley F. Palangchao
