The Society of Outstanding Citizens of Baguio launched the Search for Outstanding Citizens of Baguio 2022 during the flag raising ceremonies at City Hall March 14.
Socob president Elma Donaal said submission of nominations for this year’s search is from March 15 to June 17; validation of nominations, June 20 to July 29; and judging is slated from Aug. 1 to 19.
Winners will be announced and awarded on September 1 as a highlight of the Baguio Day celebration.
Nominees should have brought honor and prestige to Baguio through their sustained contributions and achievements in local, regional, national or international undertakings, and should serve as a role model to the rest of Baguio’s constituency.
Nominees should be residents of Baguio for at least 10 years even if not continuous as long as he/she regularly comes home or keeps in contact with the city; a nominee should also have an National Bureau of Investigation clearance.
Categories for the search are community service, culture and arts, business, and professional service.
Criteria for community service include community involvement for 80 percent and character for 20 percent; while that of culture and arts are artist involvement (80 percent) and character for 20 percent.
Criteria for business are management and growth of business for 30 percent; impact of business on the city’s development (30 percent); outreach/corporate social responsibility (10 percent); number of years in operation (give percent); number of employees (five percent); and character 20 percent.
Professional service criteria are programs/projects or service impact for 30 percent; sustainability (10 percent); novelty (10 percent); partnership/networking (10 percent); performance of work (20 percent); and character, 20 percent.
Nomination forms can be obtained and submitted to the Philippine Information Agency and Mayor’s Office. – Gaby B. Keith
