Sports activities are lined up for the month-long 122nd founding anniversary celebration of Benguet and Adivay Festival on Nov. 7 to 30 slated in various towns in the province.

Starting on Nov. 11 to 13 will be the Adivay shootfest in Bangao, Buguias; the enduro challenge on Nov. 12 in Dreamland-Piripin Bato, Pico; and on Nov. 13 would be the sepak takrawat Benguet National High School, Wangal, both in La Trinidad.   

An amazing race is also set on Nov. 17 at the trade fair area in Wangal while the inter-local government unit darts tournament is set on Nov. 17 to 18 at the Gov. Ben Palispis Auditorium and on Nov. 26 and 27 at Francis Restobar in Cruz, La Trinidad.

The inter-muni-cipality Adivay bike ride will be on Nov. 24 and 25, and the body building competition on Nov. 30 at the Gov. Ben Palispis Auditorium.

The yearly Kasibulan grassroots football is also set on Nov. 26 and 27 at the Benguet State University grounds. Kids have an early start as they train under the grassroots development program termed as “kasibulan”, one of the few remaining grassroots development program of the Philippine Football Federation being sustained locally by Frael Aquino, a veteran football coach of BSU and president of the Cordillera Region Football Association, Inc.

Another annual event in line with Adivay is the 35th Lakay Grappler’s Cup on Nov. 13 at the Ben Palispis Auditorium at the Capitol. Weigh-in will be on Nov. 11 and 12.  

The activities are community-led in partnership with the provincial government of Benguet.

This year’s festivity is dubbed “Adivay: A people’s festival of culture, nature, and the future”, which will commence the in-person get-together since the Covid-19 pandemic. – Ofelia C. Empian
