No barangay in Baguio City has been spared from the Covid-19 affliction.

City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit Head Donnabel Panes, in a report during the Covid-19 response planning session last May 21, said all of the city’s 128 barangays have recorded cases.

From April 20 to May 21, the barangays with the most number of cases are Irisan, Camp 7, Loakan Proper, Gibraltar, Bakakeng Central, Asin Road, Pacdal, Bakakeng Norte, Honeymoon (Honeymoon-Holyghost), Sto. Tomas Proper, Pinsao Proper, Fairview Village, Upper Quezon Hill, San Vicente, Bayan Park West, Dizon Subdivision, and Balsigan.

Panes said while there was a decrease in the number of active cases during the period, residents should not let their guards down.

“The virus does not know where you live. It keeps finding a way to enter people wherever they are. As we put our guards down, it will take advantage of the opportunity to infect us so please mind our protocols,” she said.

Panes cited the cases of Taiwan and Singapore which were models in Covid-19 prevention but are now confronted with surge in cases.

“The Covid-19 does not spare any country. If we put our guards down, the more the virus will find its way into us,” she said.

As of May 26, the city logged 12,132 cases with 255 deaths and 11,274 recoveries. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
