This near-sighted Ibaloy writer is not at all surprised that some of my fellow animal lovers would prefer the company of their pets than humans because unlike the latter, animals (especially dogs) are forever loyal, love you unconditionally, and do not stab you in the back, among other things. Hooray to our dogs, cats, chickens, turtles, and other pets.
Anyway, City Veterinary and Agriculture Officer Silardo Bested reminded residents to take care of their pets by having them vaccinated against rabies as part of the local government’s Responsible Pet Ownership Program spearheaded by his office. He said owners should also not allow their pets to just roam around the neighborhood or in other public places but they should be properly leashed or inside the premises of their owners’ homes or compounds.

The Summer Capital has an ample supply of 78,549 Covid-19 vaccines as of March 7, according to City Health Services Officer Rowena Galpo. Of the remaining vaccines, she said Astra Zeneca accounted for 30,190; Pfizer, 30,624; Moderna, 8,650; Sinovac, 6,319; and Gamaleya, 1,766.

FYI: Panagbenga’s “Handog sa Pamilya Baguio” feature staged March 13 was a blast starting from the “Let a Thousand Flowers Bloom” Open Painting Exhibition and the Panagbenga Kiteflying Challenge in the morning up to the PMA band performance and silent drill in the afternoon and capped by the FUNagbenga Fitness Frenzy Zumba workout until early evening.Next attractions: Panagbenga Open Dance Challenge on March 20 and Session Road in Bloom on March 21 to 27.

Here’s “No man is an island” by John Donne: “No man is an island,/ Entire of itself,/ Every man is a piece of the continent,/ A part of the main./ If a clod be washed away by the sea,/ Europe is the less./ As well as if a promontory were./ As well as if a manor of thy friend’s/ Or of thine own were:/ Any man’s death diminishes me,/ Because I am involved in mankind,/ And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;/ It tolls for thee.”

Let’s end with a prayer: “Father, we thank you for your abundant mercy and grace toward us. We honor you this day as we gather together in a family full of gratitude. We thank you for this meal and the hands that prepared it. We thank you for your bountiful provisions. We ask that you equip and encourage us to serve others who are in need. May we be good stewards of your creation and of all our talents and blessings. We proclaim glory and honor to you. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.”
May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ continue to bless and keep us all safe.
