The Police Regional Office-Cordillera has honored the province of Apayao and 14 other municipalities it identified as the most peaceful places in the region.

PRO-Cor Director B/Gen. Mafelino Bazar led the giving of certificates and cash incentives to the various police station heads during the recent command conference at Camp Major Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Bazar said Apayao was awarded the most peaceful province in the region for recording only 32 focused crimes in 2022.

Apayao Provincial Police Office Director Col. Jefferson Cariaga received the certificate of recognition on behalf of the command.

Previously known as index crimes, focus crimes are theft, rape, robbery, physical injury, murder, homicide, and car/motorcycle theft.

The towns of Tubo, Bucloc, and Daguioman in Abra were recognized for recording one crime incident each for the past five years from 2018 to 2022.

For recording zero focus crime in 2022, special recognition were given to the police stations of Boliney, Bucloc, Daguioman, Luba, San Quintin, Tubo, and Tineg in Abra; Barlig, Besao, and Natonin in Mountain Province; and Kabayan in Benguet.

The awardees were evaluated based on the parameters set by the PRO-Cor taking into account the records of crimes in the particular area for the whole year, and its existing population.

“Your efficient and effective implementation of the crime prevention and control in your respective area of responsibility contributed to the peace-keeping in the region,” Bazar said to the awardees.

Bazar said the Cordillera has always been a generally peaceful region, which is also a reflection of PRO-Cor being regarded as the “home of the most disciplined cops” through the years.

Bazar urged all officers to exert more effort to remain persistent in the fight against all forms of criminality, illegal drugs, and terrorism in the region. – Ofelia C. Empian
