Apayao is on track in vaccinating 70 percent of its population by the end of the year.

Based on the Nov. 15 data of the Provincial Health Office, 62,706 or 72 percent already received at least one dose out of 87,310 target individuals or 70 percent target population.

A total of 42,939 individuals, or 49 percent, are fully vaccinated. A total of 98,323 vaccine doses were administered to the eligible population.

Luna vaccinated 78 percent of the target population while Sta. Marcela, Flora, Calanasan, and Pudtol achieved over 50 percent of their targets.

For priority groups, Apayao has vaccinated 100 percent of its frontline health workers and for senior citizens, 65 percent are partially vaccinated and 64 percent are fully vaccinated.

For adults with comorbidities (A3), about 10 percent of the target got inoculated. For A5 or the indigent population, of the 16,502 target, 81 percent is partially vaccinated and 43 percent are fully vaccinated.

Apayao also started vaccinating children 12 to 17 years old.

As of Nov. 15, there are 19 who are vaccinated under the pediatric A3 population and 4,448 individuals under the rest of the pediatric population group received their first dose.

Department of Health-Cordillera Assistant Director Amelita Pangilinan, who led the team that visited Apayao municipalities to look into their vaccination activities and accomplishments, congratulated the provincial government and local chief executives for their strong support to the national vaccination program.

Pangilinan also acknowledged the strong commitment of the health care workers and other members of the local vaccination teams. – Carlito C. Dar
