The Baguio City Council, through a resolution, is encouraging all public officials and government employees, including those from national government offices stationed in the city, to attend their respective barangay assemblies.

The resolution, authored by Liga ng mga Barangay President Rocky Aliping, stated employees and public officials are excused from their office hours as long as they secure a certificate of appearance to validate their presence during the barangay assemblies.

The resolution emphasized the importance of the participation of government officials and employees in grassroots governance.

Aliping said their action participation fosters closer ties between the local government and the community they serve.

He said the barangay assembly is a crucial community forum where residents can actively engage, voice concerns, and participate in decision-making processes that affect their community’s future.

“Public officials and government employees are not only residents but also integral members of their barangay assemblies. Therefore, they have a crucial responsibility in the advancement and development of their barangays,” Aliping said.

He added the public officials and government employees can use their expertise and experience to contribute significantly to community development.

Copies of the resolution will be given to all government offices in the city for widest dissemination, information, and appropriate action. – Jordan G. Habbiling
