Mayor Benjamin Magalong announced the city government is calling for unsolicited proposals for two of its catalytic projects – the smart mobility and transportation system and the triple A slaughterhouse project.

Submission of proposals is from Aug. 5 to Sept. 5.

The smart mobility and transportation system aims to modernize the city’s public transportation system and provide a long-term solution to the city’s perennial traffic problem.

“We want the public transport system to become so efficient that people would have reduced need to use private vehicles,” the mayor said.

He said the city envisions the system to be managed by an integrated artificial intelligence-powered mechanism that can monitor traffic conditions and direct solutions to ensure equitable distribution of public utility vehicles.

Aside from addressing traffic congestions, the system is preferred to also have the capability to manage traffic violations through a no-contact scheme, among other features.

For the triple A slaughterhouse project, the city intends to establish a modernized abattoir that is equipped with required facilities including a meat laboratory and cold storage facilities that are compliant with international standards. “Meat products from these high-grade facilities can be sold and exported and we want to do just that as part of our goals to establish economic enterprises in the city,” the mayor said. – Aileen P.
