The City of Baguio received a Safe Travels Stamp from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and the Department of Tourism in recognition of its adoption of health and safety guidelines during the Covid-19 pandemic.

A certificate of Safe Travels Protocols dated April 30, 2021 was recently sent online by DOT Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat to Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong.

The Safe Travels Stamp was issued to the city government under the Destination Category while the Grand Seirra Pines Baguio was issued the same stamp under Entity Category.

The WTTC Safe Travels Stamp is the world’s first safety and hygiene stamp for travelers to recognize government and businesses that have adopted global health standardized protocols amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The DOT opened the application for the WTTC Safe Travels Stamp in March to all DOT-accredited accommodation establishment and tourism destinations that are open to local tourists.

LGUs and establishments with the Safe Travels Stamp are accorded free promotion in the websites and social media platforms of the DOT and the Tourism Promotions Board as well as global exposure to WTTC member-organizations.

Recipients of Safe Travels Stamp are expected to continue compliance to the WTTC Safe Travels Protocols through the DOT Health and Safety Guidelines, said OIC Director Warner Andrada of the DOT Office of Tourism Development Planning, Research and Information Management. – Jessa Samidan
