Baguio golf veterans Goody Ignacio of Baguio Country Club; Rudy Lockey of Camp John Hay; and Larry Mendoza of EK Amigos led local par busters who reaped individual scoring honors in the recently held 71st Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament.
Ignacio and Lockey each scored 104 points for their teams during the tournament held in Baguio City from Dec. 14 to 17 with 314 participants in the regular and seniors divisions.
Ignacio scored 29 and 30 at CJH and added 24 and 21 in the last two days at BCC to win the individual scoring championship trophy in group three of the regular division.
Kalinga Rep. Allen Jesse Mangaoang of Mountaineers Golf Team ranked fifth in the same group with 90 points followed by local players Mar Bustos of Baguio Blue Blood Eagles and Alexander Pumecha of Miners Golf Team with 88 points apiece.
CJH Golf Team players Tae Hyun Hoo, Emilio Curran, and Tony Fernandez were in the top five in group two of the regular division with 110, 110, and 107 points in that order.
Philex Mines top honcho Euls Austin of BCC was in seventh place with 97 points.
Still in the regular division, Marty Manayos of Razcals 1 placed second in group four with 71 points followed by Art Bacoco of Baguio City Golf Team II with 62, Francois Jamir Miranda of Crown Legacy with 61, Camilo Lammawin of Mountaineers with 59, and Anthony Joshua Ribaya of Ismael CPA with 54.
Lockey had 22 and 26 on the first two days at BCC before adding 30 and 26 on the last two days at CJH to win the individual title in group two of the seniors’ division.
Lockey was trailed closely by his teammates Yung Hur with 91 and Charles David Baguilat and Nap Rosito of Drajdan with 87 apiece.
Edwin Ganga and Melchor Rabanes, both of Baguio City Golf Team, ranked seventh and 10th with 84 and 74 points, respectively.
Mendoza, on the other hand, was the top scorer in the seniors’ group 3 with 85 points followed by Virgilio Gadiano of Team McDer with 79, Erwin Killip and Raul Cadiogan, both of Residences of Brent with 76 and 71, respectively.
The scorers in the seniors’ group one were Daniel Samaniego of CJH Hotels and Edgar Montenegro of BCC, both with 97 and Marciano Garcia of BCC with 95. – Harley F. Palangchao
